To everyone who has supported Klokki over the years — thank you. Your trust, patience, and enthusiasm have meant more than you know.
I also want to acknowledge something I've been silent about: in the past years, I stepped away without offering you clarity. No updates, no messages.
For that, I am truly sorry.
This letter is here to share what happened, and what comes next.
Klokki's story was never linear.
The app emerged during a company split with my former co-founder. Suddenly I was on my own without the technical experience needed to re-release the app as Klokki and then keep it moving, but with a strong desire to continue building the app.
I reached out to a long-time friend, someone I had built another app with before. With his support, Klokki reached the public and even received several thoughtful improvements early on.
But life doesn't always align with our plans.
He—and later I as well—had full-time jobs, families to support, and bills to pay. Development slowed down. Motivation also started to fade. Releases became smaller, then stretched further apart, until eventually… we stopped shipping anything at all.
Despite the pause, Klokki still provides value to many of you. I'm grateful for that, and I'm proud of the app as it is. But I also feel a responsibility and a desire to give Klokki a second life.
I don't yet know the timeline or the exact shape of what's ahead.
But I do know this: at some point, Klokki will return. And when it does, it will be built with a more sustainable way of working, one that supports continuous delivery and avoids long silences.
Based on the feedback and ideas you've shared over the years, the next version will likely be a re-imagining of the app — rebuilt from the ground up, with time-tracking still at its core.
For now:
I want to leave the choice with you: download, purchase, or use the current versions if they still fit your needs, knowing the situation as it is.
Thank you again for your support, your messages, and your patience. I look forward to the day when I can share something new with you.
With gratitude,
Stas Moor
